Erik the Red

Erik the Red

Erik the Red slot is the latest release by Relax Gaming Group, based in Malta. The game follows a familiar path with a Viking theme, rich in features. As the story goes, the main character Erik, is sailing the high seas in search of paradise for his crew. They are sailing along the icy waters along the Norwegian coast when they encounter a heavy storm. Blown off course, they are almost certainly stranded until they discover Greenland on the horizon.

Erik keeps you company along with Helga his shield-maiden, and their crew destined for the new lands. Each of these symbols have prizes in store, and will give you plenty of entertainment with all the features. Full reel wilds, random reels, locking wilds and free spins with re-triggers are what you can look forward to when you play this slot.

This is a high-quality casino slot with some great features, although nothing ground-breaking. We were certainly kept entertained for a few hours whilst playing this game, and if it is an indicator of things to come from Relax Gaming, we are certainly looking forward to what else is in store. We see a lot of similarity in Erik as some other Viking themed games, they are following a winning recipe. Most casino sites have Relax Gaming content, so this slot is widely available among the leading brands.

The largest win we hit was just shy of 90x, which is decent – but could be a lot bigger. With free spins being triggered only one in 167 times, the relatively low max win should be higher. This is our main gripe with the game, small wins with hard to achieve free spins. High Roller Casino is one site that has been promoting Erik the Red slot heavily, so check it out on their site for yourself.

Relax Gaming had released a few slots in the past, but Erik the Red indicated a seismic shift in their focus. Their old games can pretty much be ignored when lined up with this game, and the next couple of releases planned are of an equal quality. We do think there are a few improvements that can still be made, however. A 5×4 game like this should probably have a higher win potential, the maths just don’t seem quite 100%. This is our main gripe with the slot, but that being said, for players who prefer softer games this is perfect.
